About the Google Pixel Watch 2
Released October 2023 at $349, and the biggest internal rewrite the line has had. Google dropped the original's Samsung Exynos for a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 with a Cortex-M33 co-processor, which is why it feels like a different watch to use.
The health hardware changed too. A multi-path optical heart rate sensor replaced the single-path one, Google claimed around 40% better accuracy, and cEDA arrived to read skin conductance for stress. It also dropped Qi wireless charging for a four-pin contact cable, which means old Pixel Watch chargers do not work.
The thing to know before buying one now: Google's guaranteed update window runs to October 2026, so it is in its final month. The watch reached Wear OS 7 in June 2026 and keeps working after that, but no further updates are promised.
