Do I need an Android phone?

No. A Galaxy Watch is the one case where an Android phone is not needed at any point, including first-time setup. Pixel and TicWatch owners need one once, to activate a brand new watch.

Does the emergency siren still work once paired to my iPhone?

Yes. It runs on the watch itself. Hold the Quick Button and it sounds, then offers the emergency call prompt, exactly as on Android.

Can I use LTE without my iPhone nearby?

Yes, once the eSIM is active. Every 2024 Ultra has LTE, so there is no model to check. Your carrier needs to support watch eSIM lines, and not all do.

Will Samsung Pay work?

No. Samsung Pay and Samsung Wallet need Samsung's phone app, which does not exist on iOS.

Samsung's most expensive watch, released July 2024 at $649. One size, one trim, and the largest battery Samsung has fitted to a wrist. The 3,000 nit display stays readable in direct sun, and the orange Quick Button on the right side runs a workout, the stopwatch or the flashlight, or holds down to sound an emergency siren.

Two things catch buyers out. There is no Bluetooth-only version, every 2024 Ultra ships with LTE. And the 10ATM rating covers swimming rather than scuba: Samsung added the dive standard on the Ultra 2, not this one.
