About the Galaxy Watch 9
Announced at Unpacked in July 2026, on sale in August from $379.99. It keeps the Watch 8's shape exactly, same 8.6mm cushion case in 40mm and 44mm, and changes what is inside.
The chip is now a Qualcomm Snapdragon SW6100 Wear Elite, the first time Samsung has put Qualcomm silicon in this line rather than an Exynos. The 40mm battery grew from 325mAh to 390mAh, a 20% jump, in a case that did not get thicker. New this generation is Hearing Health, which watches ambient noise levels and your earbud volume and warns you when exposure is getting harmful.
The support change matters most. Samsung raised its commitment with this model to five operating system upgrades and five years of security updates, up from four on the Watch 8. Note there is no Watch 9 Classic. Samsung is on a two-year cycle for the rotating bezel model and the Watch 8 Classic is the current one.

Hearing Health measures ambient noise with the watch's own microphone, so it works regardless of the phone. Earbud volume monitoring is the part worth testing for yourself, since that depends on what the phone reports.
